Outdoor Portraits
Outdoor Portraits use available light and a real location as active parts of the image. Architecture, landscape, weather and movement change the possibilities of a shoot — the background should not distract, but support the posture and atmosphere of the person being photographed.
Style & focus
Working outdoors often begins with reading the location. Where is light reflected, which lines provide direction, what moves in the wind, and what distance separates the person clearly from the background? These choices determine whether a setting supports the portrait or competes with it.
The location never remains completely constant. Clouds shift contrast, water or glass changes with the viewing angle, and passers-by or weather alter the rhythm. I therefore plan enough to work with confidence, while leaving room for what becomes visible only during the session.
For a coherent series, I move between proximity and overview: portraits carried by expression and wider frames that make the setting understandable. The person remains the centre, but the surroundings still carry part of the story.
